How Do Rockets Attain Such High Altitude?View Rocket Lab's programs page for current information about our space science projects.
Rockets are vehicles, which obtain thrust by reaction to the ejection of fast moving mass from within a rocket engine. Compared to other propulsion systems, rockets are very lightweight, enormously powerful and can achieve extremely high speeds and high altitudes. Chemical rockets are able to attain high altitudes by expanding hot exhaust gas as a result of combustion. This generates forces that accelerate the gas to extremely high velocity resulting in a thrust force on the rocket vehicle. View more information about high altitude rockets. |
