What Are The Advantages Of Using A Low G Rocket?

View Rocket Lab's programs  page for current information about our space science projects.

Rocket Lab can offer comparatively low g rocket launches due to customised vehicle design and a flexible flight profile. There are a wide number of g-load profiles for space launches. For example, the space shuttle averages g-loads of around 3 g for its crew, the Soyuz crews go to 4 or so g's during their launches and as high as 7 g's during re-entry.

Sounding rocket launches are often in excess of 20 g's, which means that the space science research equipment needs to be developed with the higher g's in mind. In many instances, science packages find low g rocket launch solutions preferable because it lowers the development cost of the equipment.
